The Bridge

Home of the teacup race.

The teacups here don't just go in a circle. The track is a winding circuit that pinches to a waist in the middle, and every lap is a choice of lines — which is why it's a race, and why nobody runs it the same way twice.

Over the waist stands the bridge the land is named for: grand stairs of stacked wood, layer upon layer, climbing unalike on each side to a latticed deck crowned with pennants. Climb it slowly. The cups pass underneath you both ways; stand at the middle and the whole race threads below your feet.

Race a cup. Then climb the bridge and watch someone else find a better line than yours.

One ticket at the gate — inside, everything is free. That's the whole idea.
